According to recent interviews, the Ocean’s Eleven franchise is getting a prequel, with Margot Robbie set to appear. Robbie is not only starring in the picture, but she is also producing it with Tom Ackerley for Warner Bros.
A Peculiar Setting
The plot is being kept under wraps, but it is expected to be a unique addition to the series set in 1960s Europe. According to reports, the project is under active development but has not been greenlit just yet.
A History of Casting
The series was revived in 2018 with the all-female spinoff Ocean’s 8, starring Sandra Bullock. Robbie takes the lead in the prequel, which comes as no surprise given the film’s stellar casting choices over the years.
Robbie, who has had a lot of success recently, will co-direct with Jay Roach, who led her to an Oscar nod for best supporting actress in 2019’s Bombshell. Keep an eye out for Robbie this summer as she’s been part of a lot of headlines recently as well.
