Depp now claims that his reputation and career have suffered as a result of the charges, which he says are untrue. However, it seems that Depp had no intention of reprising the iconic role of Jack Sparrow in the first place. Major franchises have dropped the actor, including the recently released Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and the upcoming sixth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

A Shocking Statement

Ben Rottenborn, the lawyer for Heard, implied throughout a cross-examination that Depp’s decision to leave the franchise was his own and not Disney’s, and he doesn’t sound incorrect. If it’s true that “nothing on this earth” could persuade Depp to join the franchise again, Rottenborn questioned.

And His Response

Rottenborn had stated that “The fact is, Mr. Depp, If Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film, correct?”  Depp merely said, “That is true Mr. Rottenborn,” in response.

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 has a script, according to the franchise’s most recent director Joachim Rnning, and the previous installment Dead Men Tell No Tales hinted the villain Davy Jones’ return in a post-credits scene, hinting at what we could expect from a sixth picture. But because Depp is unlikely to make a comeback, and so far, it’s unclear who will take the helm of this ship.
