Jennifer Lawrence has expressed her annoyance at earning $5 million (£4.4 million) less than Leonardo DiCaprio, her co-star in the film Don’t Look Up.
Issue about being a Woman?
The Hunger Games performer was open about the salary disparity she still experiences with her male coworkers.
Lawrence, 31, pointed out that the highest-paid Hollywood actors are already highly compensated, but the pay gap is a part of a larger problem.
In Adam McKay’s comedy movie, Jen and Leo played two scientists who desperately try to warn the world of an impending comet that is going to wipe out all of civilization.
Lawrence received $25 million (£21.8 million) for the Netflix movie, whereas DiCaprio received $30 million (£26.1 million), despite the fact that Lawrence was the leading man.
Lawrence recently acknowledged the pay discrepancy in an interview with Vogue for their October 2022 edition, calling it “bothersome.”
She remarked, “No matter what I do, I’ll never be paid as much as that guy because of my vagina?
Lawrence has frequently experienced salary disparities that are rather noticeable when compared to her male co-stars.
She and Amy Adams were paid less for the movie American Hustle than Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper back in 2014 when Sony Pictures computers were hacked.
“When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky folks with d**ks, I didn’t get upset at Sony. I felt mad at myself,” Jennifer wrote in an essay when the information about the pay discrepancy first leaked.
The Guts
Lawrence made other comments on the rumors that she had slept with Harvey Weinstein in her interview with Vogue.
With Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Beckinsale, and Cara Delevingne among the hundreds of women who came forward to accuse Weinstein of rape and sexual assault, he was found guilty and is now serving a 23-year jail sentence. Weinstein produced The Silver Linings Playbook.
Weinstein allegedly boasted of sleeping with Jennifer Lawrence in a 2018 complaint against the producer, saying: “I slept with Jennifer Lawrence and look where she is; she just won an Oscar.“
Lawrence, who at the time categorically refuted the allegations, made a point to do it again during a round of 73 Questions.
She said, “That I f***ed Harvey Weinstein,” when asked what was the most “bizarre” thing she had ever read about herself.
And that’s that.
