PlayStation is apparently considering including advertisements in some of its games, because the wheels of capitalism never stop turning, even when we’re all having fun.
A Strategy That Works
Following up on last week’s announcement that Xbox is attempting to incorporate advertisements into free-to-play titles, it appears that PlayStation is also doing the same.
Something Rewarding
According to reports, Sony Interactive Entertainment wants to encourage developers to create free-to-play games by including a built-in new monetization strategy that goes beyond the (current) microtransactions and battle passes.
The proposal has already sparked outrage among gamers, with many claiming that it is just another tool for businesses to track their purchasing patterns. Of course, how successful these initiatives are will determine whether or not they thrive.
