The record for the most Grammy awards by an artist has been broken by Beyoncé. Quite the accomplishment. The vocalist, who claimed the title from composer Georg Solti, is currently recognized as the performer with the most Grammys ever. Beyoncé received a number of prizes this evening, including Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic Off The Sofa” and Best R&B Song for “Cuff It.” She got to the ceremony in Los Angeles tonight in typical way late.

Racking Them Up

Beyoncé now holds a record-breaking 32 Grammy awards, cementing her place in music history. Beyoncé won multiple accolades throughout her solo career in addition to a number of honors while she was a member of Destiny’s Child. Beyoncé garnered nominations for important categories such record of the year, song of the year, and album of the year, the latter of which she has never won. Beyoncé has already won the most Grammy Awards of any female artist. Lizzo received the award for record of the year, followed by Harry Styles for album of the year, and Bonnie Raitt for song of the year.

Just Couple Things

Beyoncé received nine nominations this year, bringing her career total to 88, and tying the record for the most nominations ever. She now shares the record with her husband, Jay-Z. She chose two more prizes during the prime-time program after receiving two at the afternoon’s non-televised Premiere ceremony. She is still up for nominations in three more categories.

Along with her R&B and general-field accolades, this year saw Beyoncé’s debut nominations in the dance/electronic categories. Instead of competing for best R&B album, her “Renaissance” release was nominated for best dance/electronic album. Jay-Z, who is listed as a songwriter on “Renaissance,” is up for both album of the year and song of the year awards with Beyoncé. He is also eligible for song of the year, rap song, and rap performance for his participation on DJ Khaled’s “God Did.”
