The prequel to the wildly popular Game of Thrones will take place 200 years before the events in that show. The story of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war, sometimes known as the “Dance of the Dragons,” will be told in the 10-episode television series.

The series, which will be mostly shot in England, will be based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 novel Fire and Blood. In an earlier statement, Casey Bloys, HBO’s President of Programming, said: “The Game of Thrones universe is so rich with storylines.
