In case you didn’t know…That’s a lot of zeros

Actor and producer Robert John Downey Jr. is American. His career has been marked by critical and popular success in his youth, followed by a time of substance misuse and legal issues, until a revival of commercial success later in his career.

In 2008, Time magazine identified Downey as one of the 100 most influential persons in the world, and from 2013 to 2015, Forbes rated him as the highest-paid actor in Hollywood.

He made his acting debut in his father Robert Downey Sr. 1970’s movie Pound at the age of five. Later, he collaborated with the Brat Pack on the teen dramas Less than Zero (1986) and Weird Science (1985). (1987).

In 1992, Downey played the lead role in the biopic Chaplin, for which he received an Academy Award nomination and a BAFTA Award.

    That’s a lot of zeros

It would be an understatement to say that Robert Downey Jr.’s Hollywood career has been up and down. Downey Jr., 57, started his acting career in 1970 as a young actor in an uncredited role.

Although though he has a number of notable parts in his career, his performance as billionaire playboy Tony Stark in the 2008 film Iron Man may have been his true breakthrough.

So it’s safe to say that Robert Downey Jr. has been through hell and back and has earned his glitzy profession that he currently enjoys. How glittering, though, I hear you ask. Now, according to UNILAD, Downey Jr. has made an incredible sum of money since the release of Iron Man in 2008.

Downey Jr got barely $2.5 million for his initial stint as Iron Man. Yes, I say “just,” but it pales in comparison to the pay the actor received for subsequent parts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the 2012 Avengers film, which came out four years later, Downey Jr. made $50 million. This was in addition to receiving a portion of the $1.5 billion in Avengers revenues. As a result, he became the highest-paid actor in 2013.

Additionally, he earned a staggering $75 million for his subsequent appearances in Iron Man 3 (2013) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Although Downey Jr. didn’t make as much money as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in 2016, the year of Captain America: Civil War, he still took home an estimated $33 million.

Regarding 2019’s Endgame, Downey Jr. received a $20 million base salary as well as an additional $55 million from ticket sales in addition to any additional bonuses he may have earned. According to reports, Robert Downey Jr. has made an estimated $435 million from the MCU alone.

Regrettably, Marvel has revealed that Robert Downey Jr. will not be reprising his role as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in further MCU films.
