After quite the long journey, Scarlett Johansson, the legendary actress who portrayed Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has declared that she is finished playing the part. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), who have grown to adore Johansson’s portrayal of the popular character, were shocked by the news.

Making Her Mark

Johansson made her debut as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 in 2010, marking the beginning of her role. She has since made multiple appearances in Marvel films, like as The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. Fans and journalists alike have complimented her interpretation of the character, and many think she is one of the MCU’s greatest features.

Already Thought Of

It is hardly shocking that Johansson is leaving the part because there have been rumors about it for a while. In fact, there are claims that she was originally going to pass away in Avengers: Endgame, but Tony Stark’s death was substituted in her place. According to Johansson, the way her character’s narrative arc was resolved in the movie satisfied her and felt like an appropriate conclusion for the role.

Fans may find Johansson’s exit from the role to be sad, but it creates opportunity for fresh actors to play Black Widow. In fact, Marvel has already said that they are creating a TV show themed around the Yelena Belova character, played by Florence Pugh and first appeared in Black Widow. Pugh might succeed Coulson as Black Widow in upcoming motion pictures.
