It appears that the trial involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is still ongoing because Depp has this time filed an appeal. Earlier this year, Depp and his ex-wife Heard engaged in a highly publicized legal battle when Depp accused Heard of defamation in connection with an opinion article she wrote for The Washington Post.

After that, Heard filed for a new trial, claiming “inconsistent verdicts” and mistaken identity after discovering that one juror’s date of birth didn’t match the information provided in court documents and in the public domain.
Firing Back
Depp’s legal team responded by claiming that Heard’s attorneys “had more than enough time” to look into the potential jurors and that the person who ended up on the jury after another was called was still “qualified to serve as a juror.” Additionally, they contended that the request for a mistrial was made on July 8, which was seven days after the deadline set by the court for contesting the judgment.
Depp and his team appear to be pursuing an appeal now, contesting the $2 million Heard was ordered to receive from Depp, it appears. According to The Guardian, Depp’s team submitted the appeal yesterday, July 22, just one day after Heard’s team submitted a different appeal.
