Beloved Disney Film

The Little Mermaid has always been a beloved Disney classic, and the recent trend of live-action adaptations has now brought this iconic story to life once again. The latest iteration, The Little Mermaid Live-Action, directed by Rob Marshall, is a visually stunning and vibrant film that will captivate audiences of all ages.

One of the key highlights of the movie is the exceptional casting. Halle Bailey perfectly embodies the character of Ariel, with her powerful and mesmerizing voice bringing a new depth to the already beloved character.

She’s ably supported by a star-studded cast, including Javier Bardem as King Triton, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and Awkwafina as Scuttle. Each actor brings their own unique charm to their respective roles, and their performances elevate the film to new heights.

The special effects and visuals in The Little Mermaid Live-Action are truly awe-inspiring. The underwater sequences are particularly impressive, with the use of CGI creating a world that feels both magical and realistic.

The colors are vibrant and the creatures are beautifully rendered, making it easy to get lost in this enchanting underwater world.

The film’s musical numbers are equally impressive, with each song expertly performed by the talented cast. The classic tunes that have long been associated with The Little Mermaid are given new life, and the new songs added to the movie perfectly complement the original soundtrack.

Stellar Performances

Critics got to see a preview of Disney’s upcoming live-action version of The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey before it opens in theaters around the world.

With its stunning visuals, exceptional cast, and captivating musical numbers, this film is a must-see for anyone who loves a good fairy tale.

Disney recently gave viewers a preview of Melissa McCarthy performing “Poor Unfortunate Souls” as Ursula at CinemaCon. Four original songs are included on the soundtrack to the movie, which was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken.

Along with Bailey and McCarthy, the cast also includes Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Awkwafina as Scuttle. Javier Bardem plays King Triton.

Bailey’s portrayal as Ariel has received extremely excellent initial reviews for the movie. The majority of the audience agreed that the cast’s performance stood out the most, which is why critics dubbed Bailey “extraordinary.”

The performances were excellent, but one reviewer said of Bailey: “Bailey is great, McCarthy rules, the songs work but it just feels so unnecessary.” Another said the movie looks “visually rough” to maintain the under-the-sea setting, but praised Bailey for her “gorgeous singing and empathetic charm.”

#TheLittleMermaid is filled with a few great performances from Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy, but it's a mostly paint-by-numbers remake that's isn't as good as the animated masterpiece. pic.twitter.com/YY4ielYXiR

It’s real simple. Are you excited for #TheLittleMermaid? You’ll like it. It’s exactly what you think it is. Are you skeptical and worried about it? That’s valid too. It looks weird and disjointed. Bailey is great, McCarthy rules, the songs work but it just feels so unnecessary. pic.twitter.com/n4qp7MsVFH

It may look visually rough under the sea, but THE LITTLE MERMAID eventually recreates some of the original’s magic through its timeless story & cast. Daveed Diggs & Melissa McCarthy are highlights but Halle Bailey is the one astonishes with her gorgeous singing & empathetic charm pic.twitter.com/DhmmtOLaLJ

#TheLittleMermaid is a live-action remake that retains the heart and soul of the story we know and love, and it’s elevated even further by a note-perfect star-making performance from Halle Bailey – she was born to be on the big screen, & she’s why this new take is worth watching. pic.twitter.com/Tcewp2L4MY

#TheLittleMermaid is a tribute to all little girls to dream big. Halle Bailey is sheer magic and Daveed Diggs a delight as Sebastian. pic.twitter.com/kLD2y62dIF

Disney’s #TheLittleMermaid is definitely one of the better live-action adaptions. Halle Bailey pours incredible emotion into Ariel and I got chills watching her, while Melissa McCarthy’s Ursula and Daveed Diggs’ Sebastian steal scenes all day. pic.twitter.com/DHhIkbIj8s

#TheLittleMermaid makes it pretty close to being the best live action Disney movie, however it still struggles in the villain department. Halle Bailey IS Ariel and I had literal chills throughout her performance. This is a little mermaid retelling like you’ve never seen before. pic.twitter.com/JjtLOR61vL
