The first trailer for Netflix’s new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series has been released, and it is not for the faint of heart. Studio Trigger is in charge of the animation, and they’ve worked on shows like Little Witch Academia and Kill La Kill.
The Plot of It
The ten-episode series will be a stand-alone drama set in Night City, the same setting as CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 game, and will follow an anonymous street kid as they attempt to survive the megacity’s vicious streets.
Leaving a Lasting Impact
To say the least, the trailer is more than just insane. In all its neon-soaked, futuristic, body-modified bombast, the opening seconds appear to capture the entire essence of CD Projekt and designer Mike Pondsmith’s world. It’s also exceedingly gory, and there’s no evidence that Studio Trigger is going to pull any punches and we can only expect way more from them.
