Ed Sheeran claims that his recent High Court copyright dispute involving one of his songs was about honesty and sticking up for what was right, rather than money. The singer-songwriter told a recent interview that he had no choice but to go to court to protect his what he worked hard for.

Sheeran stated he now videos all of his songwriting sessions to protect himself against future allegations. And last Wednesday, a judge determined that Sheeran did not plagiarize Sami Chokri’s song: Oh Why.

The Struggle to Deal With

Sheeran and his co-writer, Snow Patrol’s John McDaid, told one recent interviewer  in their first interview after the verdict that the case had put them under “extraordinary strain.” Sheeran claimed there was “no other choice” but to contest the allegation, describing the court action as long and unpleasant for all parties involved.

With Ed Sheeran learning to be safer with his work, this may serve as a warning to a lot of those in the music business. Success could not be kept if done under lousy conditions.
