According to Horror Geek Life, Ted White, an American actor and stuntman most remembered for portraying Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, has died in his sleep at the age of 96.

Sean Clark, who referred to the actor as his “adopted grandpa” and “dear friend,” announced White’s passing on Facebook. They collaborated on projects for almost two decades.

White was approached to reprise his role as Jason in both Jason Lives and Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, but he declined, according to Gizmodo. He did, however, go on to star in two Daniel Farrands’ Friday the 13th documentaries.
