The Causes

The Coast Guard discovered Takahashi’s body in the morning of Wednesday, July 6, according to NHK (via Anime News Network). He was apparently sporting snorkeling gear, which raises the possibility of a diving mishap. The Coast Guard and police are actively collaborating to determine exactly what caused his death.

Heart of the Cards

From 1996 through 2004, Takahashi’s Yu-Gi-Oh manga was published in Weekly Shonen Jump. A popular card game,  a wide variety of toys, an anime, and video games have all been inspired by Takahashi’s writing. Yu-Gi-Oh card competitions are still held all around the world today, proving that the franchise is still going strong.

While the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! has already passed, he has awakened the true duelist in all of his fans and have given us all the strength to believe in ourselves. Knowing that his legacy would go on to live forever, what he has taught us all will also live on forever.
