Mark Wahlberg has disclosed that he is relocating to Nevada for a better quality of life after leaving Hollywood.
All for a better life
The 51-year-old actor from Planet of the Apes claimed that he left Los Angeles in an effort to provide a “better life” for his four children.
According to Wahlberg, who relocated to Hollywood like many others to pursue acting, he only made a “few of movies in the entire period that I was there” despite spending more than ten years in his $87.5 million Beverly Hills estate.
Wahlberg said: “I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and in the entire period that I was there, I only did a handful of movies.
“So, this made a lot more sense for us to be able to provide my kids a better life and follow and pursue their ambitions,” the mother said. “Whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, or my younger son as a golfer.”
The actor and his 44-year-old wife Rhea Durham currently have four kids under the age of 20: Ella, 19, Michael, 16, Brendan, 14, and Grace, 12.
Wahlberg acknowledged that taxes were a driving force behind the relocation and said that they would allow him to launch businesses that he couldn’t in Los Angeles.
In addition to creating his own film studio, he also established a “shoe factory” and a “factory for [his clothing brand] Municipal.”
Since there are many opportunities here and we moved here to give ourselves a new start and a fresh start for the kids, I’m really enthusiastic about the future,” he said.
“Hopefully, after this gubernatorial race, we’ll go to the legislature and approve a measure so we can get tax credits for the state, construct a cutting-edge studio here, and make this Hollywood 2.0.”
Even though he has a long history in Hollywood, the actor acknowledged that when he is not working, he prefers to be at home.
I spend every free moment I have at home, he declared.
In August, according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Wahlberg spent $14.5 million on a townhouse in Las Vegas. This was his second purchase in the affluent neighbourhood of The Summit Club.
His first purchase cost him $15.6 million in July and covered 2.5 acres.
In August, he told the Lights, Camera, Vegas show that Las Vegas was his “home town,” despite having spent so much time in Los Angeles.
Hollywood 2.0 is what he called it; “we want to create a lot of jobs, and a lot of enthusiasm.”
