As the mysterious Professor Snape, the late Alan Rickman had a significant role in the Harry Potter movies. However, there was a time when Rickman was on the verge of leaving the well-known movies. Extracts from Rickman’s diaries that were published in The Guardian show that the making of Harry Potter wasn’t all fun and magic. No, not for Rickman, at least.

Professor Snape nearly quit Hogwarts

“Talking to [agent] Paul Lyon-Maris about [Harry Potter] exit, which he thinks will happen,” he wrote on December 4, 2002. “But here we are in the project-collision area again. Reiterating no more HP. They don’t want to hear it.”

He made these remarks after the release of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2002, which elevated the series to even greater heights after The Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001.

However, this look into Rickman’s involvement with the franchise reveals important truths, including Rickman’s admiration for Daniel Radcliffe, the series’ star.

Daniel Radcliffe is focusing so intently right now. As they started shooting Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in May 2003, he commented, “Serious and focused – but with a sense of humour. “He will probably direct/produce, but I still don’t think he’s a real actor. And his parents are providing him with such subdued, respectful support. There is no pushing.

Additionally, Rickman discussed the pressure the movie’s producers experienced as well as what it was like to deal with young actors who weren’t always familiar with their lines.

On July 30, 2003, he wrote, “The day started off to a wonderful start with the screen guillotining on to my head. An abrupt, quick blackout was followed by depression all day. The director, Alfonso Cuarón, was furiously angry with me. I sobbed and we worked things out because I love him too much to let it go on for too long.

He is under the typical HP pressure, and even he begins practising with cameras instead of actors because these kids need directing. They don’t know their lines, and Emma Watson’s language occasionally sounds like it belongs in Albania. additionally, my phoney rehearsal is with a French person.

Disaster struck by Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. As a result of receiving a diagnosis of an aggressive form of prostate cancer in 2005, Rickman was soon obliged to deal with health difficulties. But despite his own difficulties, he made the decision to continue reading Harry Potter.

After having his prostate surgically removed, he wrote: “Finally, yes to HP 5” a few weeks later. There is no up or down feeling. The position that urges “See it through” is the one that prevails. It is your narrative.

Thankfully, Rickman stuck with the series until the end, playing Professor Snape in all eight of the main Harry Potter movies. He wrote about the resolution of his character in 2007.

On July 27, 2007, he posted, “I have finished reading the final ‘Harry Potter book.” “Snape dies bravely, and Potter calls his son Albus Severus and calls him one of the bravest men he ever knew. A true rite of passage, this. I had something to grasp when I learned from Jo Rowling seven years ago that Snape loved Lily.

On January 14, 2016, Rickman passed away at the age of 69.
