The Iconic Final Fantasy Game is “Struggling” Claims Producer

Few RPG franchises have a reputation for being as influential or iconic as Final Fantasy. The series will turn 35 this December, making it older than many of the readers of this.

Despite this, it shows no signs of slowing down, with Final Fantasy XVI, the series’ sixteenth main title, scheduled to release on PS5 sometime in 2013.

Despite this, Naoki Yoshida, the producer of the upcoming title and the creator of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV, stated in an interview that the series is “struggling.” He told Inverse that he believes it would be “difficult” to fulfil all of the gamers’ increasing demands in a single game.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the third game in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, will also be released soon. View the trailer down below.

“In terms of whether Final Fantasy is successfully adapting to industry trends, I believe the series is currently struggling,” he said. “We’re now at a point where we receive a wide variety of requests regarding the direction of our game design. To be honest, it’d be impossible to satisfy all those requests with a single title.

“My current impression is that all we can really do is create multiple games, and continue creating the best that we can at any given time.”

Yoshida has no intention of making Final Fantasy XIV outdated anytime soon. “I want to keep making sure that Final Fantasy XIV will be warmly remembered by people as a fun game that gave them the ultimate gaming experience,” he stated. I also want to guarantee that it will continue to function for many years to come.
