Sage Companions: Exploring the Immense Hyrule Together
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces a sage mechanic that truly stands out as a game-changer in the expansive world of Hyrule.
The map of Hyrule is larger than it has ever been, and exploring such a massive area single-handedly can be daunting, if not a little lonely. That’s where the companions, or Sages, come in, and their introduction, complete with useful abilities, is an added bonus.
By now, you’re likely aware that Tears of the Kingdom allows you to unlock five Sages – Yunobo, Sidon, Mineru, Riju, and Tulin. Each of these Sages has unique skills that simplify exploration and combat.
These abilities can be enhanced by collecting Sage’s Will, a scarce resource that can be somewhat difficult to find. If you’re unsure about where to invest this resource, we’re here to offer our recommendation for the top Sage to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tulin: The Preferred Sage for an Upgrade
To cut to the chase, in our experience, the most advantageous Sage to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is Tulin. This young character from Rito Village has been incredibly useful during my travels in Hyrule, even in his basic form, thanks to his wind abilities that optimize flight.
The upgrade, which can be unlocked by collecting four Sage’s Wills and visiting the Goddess Statue (Emergency Shelter at Lookout Landing), doesn’t enhance your flying capabilities, but it does increase Tulin’s damage output in combat with headshots.
Tulin proved to be extremely useful in many battles, a sentiment shared by other players I’ve conversed with. Hence, our recommendation is to upgrade Tulin first.
However, gaming is subjective, and the most suitable Sage to upgrade first may vary depending on your unique playstyle.
Since these upgrades amplify the damage caused by your allies’ avatars, you might prefer to enhance the Sage you’ve been counting on the most in your battles against the various enemies in this vast world.
