Players in Hogwarts Legacy Have Drastically Decreased

Little more than a month after its release, Hogwarts Legacy has had enormous commercial success, but its PC concurrent player count has sharply decreased.

It’s a good game

The game is set in the 1800s, long before the events of the Harry Potter series, and is set to be released on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.

The game puts players in the shoes of a student attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where they will be able to explore the iconic school and its surrounding areas, learn magical spells, attend classes, and make choices that will affect the story’s outcome.

One of the unique features of Hogwarts Legacy is the ability to create a personalized character that is fully customizable, including their appearance, gender, and magical abilities.

This opens up a whole new level of customization and personalization that was not present in previous Harry Potter games.

Players will also have the freedom to make choices that will affect the story’s outcome, allowing for multiple playthroughs and different endings.

The game’s developers have promised a vast and open world that will allow players to explore and discover hidden secrets, solve puzzles, and engage in epic battles.

This things happen.

Hogwarts Legacy generated $850 million in sales in just two weeks following its release thanks to the nearly 12 million copies that were sold. Warner Bros. has not validated a recent analyst’s assertion that the game’s sales have surpassed $1 billion.

Games, but it wouldn’t be shocking given how much money it had previously made in such a short period of time. In the UK, it even outsold Elden Ring’s lifetime sales in just five weeks, which is no small accomplishment.

This accomplishment occurs in spite of the fact that many people decided to avoid the game because of its connection to J.K. Rowling, who is still criticized for her derogatory remarks regarding the trans community.

According to Game Rant, Hogwarts Legacy’s appeal has drastically decreased on PC. One peek at the data from SteamDB is all it takes to realize how much lower the average concurrent player count is now than it was at launch.

At the time of writing, there are 29,593 players, down from its all-time concurrent player peak of 879,308 last month.

Naturally, the number of players may fluctuate throughout the course of the day, but data from the entire previous week reveals that the peak number was just 99,171, which is insignificant in light of the numbers from debut.

Let’s discuss context since it is crucial. HowLongToBeat estimates that playing through the side missions will take you about 41 and a half hours in the single-player game Hogwarts Legacy. The primary narrative only lasts for about 25 hours.

The decrease in players isn’t surprising because, unless players are attempting a completionist run (which takes more than 63 hours to complete), the majority of fans who purchased the game when it first came out have probably already finished it and moved on to something else.

Given that Hogwarts Legacy is slated to launch on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in the near future, it is unlikely that it will lose steam very soon.
