Cyberpunk 2077’s creator, CD Projekt Red, has unveiled the trailer for Phantom Liberty, the first expansion. Cyberpunk 2077’s “spy-thriller expansion” will be available in 2023.
I hope he has a dog again
The first significant expansion promises to introduce players to new settings and characters while taking place in a brand-new section of Night City. In addition to this, Keanu Reeves will make a comeback in the expansion as the voice of Johnny Silverhand.
Cyberpunk 2077 must be one of the most massive games to ever hit the PlayStation 5, and the PC. It even has its own anime, with directors and voice actors such as Giancarlo Esposito as Faraday on Netflix.
While there were many streams on twitch and even on discord channels, the studio that produced Cyberpunk was also the same studio that produced the famous the witcher games.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime series from Trigger, will debut on Netflix the following week. CD Projekt RED’s Twitch channel had a stream reveal for the 10-episode series as well as the brand-new Phantom Liberty trailer. Reeves stated during the webcast that fans should start to get excited about the expansion because his character Silverhand would be making a comeback. The grim future has Reeves enthused, and the actor thinks viewers should share his enthusiasm.
“Hey everyone, Johnny Silverhand is coming back and so am I. Get ready for Phantom Liberty, the upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s awesome to be back playing the role of Johnny, and I hope you’re excited to see him rocking out once more in the dark future. Keep an eye out for more info, and I’ll see you again in Night City.”
Cyberpunk 2077 did not have a perfect start when it was released in December 2020 because there were many flaws that needed to be fixed. Despite these difficulties, the game eventually became a commercial success, with up to 18 million copies sold. Gabriel Amatangelo, the game director for Cyberpunk 2077, started working on this upcoming expansion in May 2021.
Amatangelo spoke briefly about the planned expansion before it was revealed: “We’re having a lot of fun with it. It’s a new style of plot we’re having fun with,” he added. “Expanding on a district in Night City where it mostly happens with a new group of characters.”
It is important to note that although the release date of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion has been set for 2023, CD Projekt Red has opted to stop providing updates for the PS4 and Xbox One. However, the expansion will be made available on Stadia, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The new 1.6 updates, which the developer has just released, will be the game’s last sizable update for PS4 and Xbox One. The following Witcher game is what CD Projekt is currently working on in terms of upcoming RPGs.
