According to Deadline, Ritchie will take control of Disney’s upcoming live-action version, which will be made by the organization led by the creators of Avengers: Endgame, Joe and Anthony Russo. Writers are now being hired by the studio for the endeavor.
A Change in Pace
From his days of producing English gangster films like Snatch, Guy Ritchie has come a long way. He now directs films like Disney’s live-action Aladdin, which debuted in 2019 and earned more than $1 billion worldwide.
Next in Line
It is the most recent in a line of live-action Disney adaptations that also includes Mulan and Beauty & The Beast. In 2023, a Little Mermaid adaptation is also expected to be released. Ritchie hasn’t entirely abandoned action movies, though. He recently shot an untitled action film starring Jake Gyllenhaal, according to Deadline, and MGM purchased the film.
Hercules won’t likely be released until at least 2024 because a script is still needed. And until then, fans can look forward to something spectacular and expect something new when it comes to this upcoming movie.
