There is evidence that a ransomware organization broke into the servers of game producer Bandai Namco, and it’s possible that some of the material that was accessed included client information. And with that, a lot of information may be at risk unless the powerhouse company comes up with a solution.
More Than Errors
Bandai Namco has now confirmed the situation in a statement provided to VGC in response to vx-underground, which asserts to have “the largest collection of malware source code, samples, and papers on the internet.” On July 11, vx-underground tweeted: “ALPHV ransomware group (also known as BlackCat ransomware group) claims to have ransomed Bandai Namco.
The Fears
According to VGC, ransomware is a type of software that criminals employ to demand money from its victims, frequently by threatening to disclose those victims’ data or to prevent those victims from accessing it through encryption until the ransom is paid.
While Bandai Namco has given out a statement, they have also mentioned that it might be ongoing for some time. Needless to say, the information hack has to end soon and hopefully sooner than expected to prevent any more chaos.
