Alec Baldwin might be charged with a crime, it seems. Documents pertaining to the impending incident report from the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office have been obtained by The New York Post. According to one of these records, Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies has submitted an urgent request to the New Mexico Board of Finance for $635,500 to pay for the prosecution of up to four people in connection with the incident.
What Happened
Halyna Hutchins, the director of photography for the western film Rust, passed away in October 2021 after being fatally shot with a set prop gun. It’s thought that actor Alec Baldwin fired the gun during a take. Joel Souza, who directed the movie, also suffered injuries.
The Huge Issue
According to reports, Baldwin believed the gun was loaded with empty ammunition. The gun had actually been loaded with live rounds and this was not the case. After being transported by air to the University of New Mexico Hospital, Hutchins was subsequently declared dead.
The story does not clarify exactly who those four persons are, but it does mention that “one of the possible defendants is well known movie actor Alec Baldwin.” It also indicates that the prosecution could require up to four separate jury trials.
