When Jennette McCurdy was fighting eating issues, the actress talked openly about portraying a “food-obsessed” persona.

What Was She Feeling?

She was always hungry, according to the running joke in the comedy, and was frequently shown either looking for food or holding it in her hand.

There is an entire compilation on YouTube that is dedicated to Sam eating.

It couldn’t have been further from the truth for McCurdy, who is best known for playing Sam Puckett in the Nickelodeon comedy iCarly. The 30-year-old was struggling with severe eating issues while the series was being filmed.

The performer claims in her new book, “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” that she became addicted to eating as a result of pressure from her mother to portray a specific way.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, McCurdy admitted that while it was difficult to discuss her character’s obsession with food with the show’s creators, she can now see the humour in it.

Since I had potentially fatal eating issues at the time, she said, “I grappled with my character being so focused on food.”

That kind of juxtaposition is just completely my sense of humour, where there is something incredibly tragic that is accentuated by something that is really polished. It’s hilarious, but now I understand it as the great gift of comedic gold that it is.
