Trevor Noah Gets Speedier Exit from The Daily Show

According to a press release from Comedy Central, Trevor Noah will leave The Daily Show on Thursday, December 8. A “celebratory look back at his greatest moments kicking off Monday, December 5th” will begin the week.

Who’s Next

Additional information, including presumably who will be behind the desk come January, is promised by Comedy Central. The replacement for Jon Stewart, Noah, had already been announced before he left the program in 2015.

Since Then

On September 29, Noah shockingly announced his departure from The Daily Show. The abruptness of his disclosure has been the subject of jokes on the program, with Roy Wood Jr. criticizing Noah for “throwing him under the bus” and making his Twitter mentions difficult.

After Noah bids adieu, Comedy Central will put the program on hiatus; it will return on January 17 as part of what the network called a “reinvention.” Comedy Central did not appoint a replacement for Noah, but it is rumored that management is giving some of the show’s correspondents significant thought.
