WWE superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin has expressed interest in playing Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the 2021 video game film adaptation.

Getting Serious

The former WWE Champion is so dedicated to the part that he’s already working on getting cast as Johnny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat film. Miz stated on a recent podcast that he began practicing for the role shortly after fans on social media began fan-casting him for the part.

The Dedication

“Because Johnny can do both,” Miz wanted to perfect the character’s left-handed and right-handed opening kicks, so he contacted a trainer he had previously worked with on Marine 6, the sixth and final part of WWE Studios’ The Marine action movie series. He also stated that he is “almost there” in terms of being able to do the splits.

Miz stated in an interview last year that having his name widely associated with the persona on social media fueled his desire to be cast as Johnny Cage. Following the advice of his peers and even Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, he set out to offer “the Mortal Kombat fans the Johnny Cage that they deserve.”
