During an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle this morning, Sir David Attenborough was knighted for the second time in 37 years. After the event, the documentary director, who has a long acquaintance with the Queen and numerous members of the royal family, appeared ecstatic as he proudly displayed the honor.
What He’s Done
During the morning of the event, the broadcaster, who has dedicated his life to capturing the animal kingdom and conservation activities, beaming. Sir David was awarded a Knight Bachelor in 1985, the lowest level of knighthood.
Recognizing Efforts
During a segment of the show, which saw a footage of Sir David projected on to Buckingham Palace, the Duke of Cambridge walked to the stage to highlight the efforts of “visionary environmentalists.” In October 2020, William collaborated with Sir David to establish The Earthshot Prize, a global competition he co-founded with The Royal Foundation.
They teamed up in 2021 to produce The Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet, a five-part groundbreaking BBC documentary series. His efforts have now been recognized and for the second time around, he’s even making more headlines and showing why he’s worthy of the title. Hats off to David Attenborough!
