After 25 years, Ash is now the World Champion of Pokémon

Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town, Kanto, has finally won the title of Pokémon World Champion after 25 arduous years.

That’s my boy!

Fans have watched the Pokémon trainer practice, learn, and develop over the course of two and a half decades as he strives to be the best that has ever existed.

We eventually learned to let go of the dream after suffering far too many heartbreaking setbacks, including one where we were so near that we all believed it was going to happen for real.

I want to cry now

Ash faced champion Leon in a contest for the ultimate championship at the end of the most recent episode of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys.

In the Masters Eight Tournament of the Pokémon World Coronation Series, our guy from Pallet Town prevailed despite taking some harsh blows and having one unlucky interruption from an irate Legendary Pokémon.

A fantastic team of fan favorites, including Dragonite, Gengar, Lucario, Sirfetch’d, and Dracovish, accompanied Ash as he entered battle. Of course, his faithful Pikachu defeated Leon’s Charizard to secure the victory.

Although Ash recently won a championship title (he was the first-ever Alola region Pokémon League champion), this triumph makes him the world champion. In other words, he has fulfilled his promise to become the Pokémon Master he made in 1997. I’m very close to crying.
