The first Pokémon to be added to Ubers are Flutter Mane and Houndstone from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, according to Smogon University.

The competitive scene’s heating up!

Numerous new Pokémon were introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, two of which—Flutter Mane and Houndstone—have already been banned from competitive play due to their extreme power and lack of counters.

A couple of the Pokémon that Game Freak added appears to have the reverse issue and perform too well, despite the fact that the Pokémon developer has been criticized for performance concerns in Scarlet and Violet.

Flutter Mane and Houndstone have been permanently banned from use in competitive Pokémon fighting, according to Smogon University (via Game Rant). This decision was made unanimously and was publicized on Twitter.

A Paradox Pokémon that can only be found in Scarlet is Flutter Mane. It is a difficult Pokémon to defeat because it has many strengths but few weaknesses. Houndstone, a Pokémon of the Ghost type, has a particularly problematic ability called Last Respects that is potent enough to get it banned from tournament play.

Smogon University explains why it prohibits Pokémon from competitive gaming in order to be transparent.

In addition to having excellent base numbers for Speed and Special Attack, Flutter Mane also has three immunities, one resistance, and two weaknesses due to its combination of the Ghost and Fairy types, making it especially challenging to defeat.

However, Houndstone has been prohibited because to Last Respects, a spell that gets stronger with each party member that passes out.

It could be a 300 BP STAB ability because of this. As a result, Houndstone was prohibited from competitive Pokémon Scarlet and Violet play due to the restricted means to resist Last Respects.

Scarlet and Violet increased the total number of Pokémon in the series to over 1000, thus it may not be surprising that at least a couple of the game’s more than 200 characters have been banned.

While it appears that Game Freak would need to change Flutter Mane in order to reinstate it in Pokémon competitive play, Houndstone has a better chance of being released from its prohibition, which might just apply to Last Respects.

With more than 200 Pokémon arriving in Scarlet and Violet, Smogon University appears to be making every effort to ensure that competitive play is as fair as possible.

Some of the fascinating new Pokémon introduced by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, such as one that remarkably resembles a mimic from Dungeons and Dragons, are not ideal for competitive play because to their imbalanced designs, such as Flutter Mane.

As a result, Flutter Mane and Houndstone were given the first competitive suspensions, kicking them off the stage temporarily.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players can still enjoy Flutter Mane and Houndstone outside of competitive play, and possibly they will be improved in the future.
