The late-night talk show and satirical news program have employed the South African comedian, political pundit, and television host for seven years. On Thursday, September 29, the week of his seventh anniversary, the 38-year-old confessed he feels that his “time is up.”

Looking Back

In a video that was shared on Twitter by The Daily Show account, Noah expressed his ‘overwhelming’ gratitude for the opportunity to work on the show since 2015 after succeeding Jon Stewart.

Other Horizons

It was both “one of [his] greatest challenges” and “one of [his] greatest joys,” he said, adding that he “loved hosting the show.” Although he made no mention of the reason for his decision to leave the show, Noah did mention that he wants to “continue exploring another part of (his) life.”

Comedy Central sent the following statement to Variety:  “With no timetable for his departure, we’re working together on next steps.” With that, Trevor Noah will definitely be missed on the program and we wish him well in his future endeavors.
