The iconic protagonists of Walt Disney‘s 1953 animated classic play dual protagonist roles in the studio’s most recent live-action adaption, “Peter Pan & Wendy,” for which Disney has unveiled the official trailer. Disney fans have been eagerly awaiting the new trailer since they were given an exclusive first glimpse at it during the D23 Expo in September.

A Stunning Cast

The trailer, like the first teaser, features beautiful shots of Neverland captured by the movie’s director of photography, Bojan Bazelli, and teases an action-packed meeting between Wendy and the film’s irascible antagonist, Captain Hook. The next movie, which is being directed by David Lowery, will star Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson as Peter Pan and Wendy, respectively. Jude Law plays Captain Hook alongside them, and Yara Shahidi becomes the first Black woman to play Tinkerbell in history.

A Classic Tale

The story features a young girl named Wendy is abducted by the mythical figure Peter Pan to join him in the mythical country of Neverland, where she can also live freely without worrying about growing up, in the classic story. Their antics cover the full spectrum of the extraordinary, as they meet mermaids, pirates, and fairies while savoring the boundless optimism of youth. A classic tale really, but almost everyone could relate to it and has been recognized all over the world.

“Peter Pan & Wendy” is the latest attempt among a number of cinematic love letters to the original Walt Disney film, coming seven years after the debut of director Joe Wright’s “Pan” and 31 years after Steven Spielberg‘s “Hook.” Yet, the story’s actual roots go back to writer J.M. “Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up,” is a work by Barrie. Peter Pan & Wendy is set to stream on Disney+ on April 28.
