The Sims 4 to be Completely Free to Download and Keep

Big news for those who let the dishes build up in the sink for days while making sure their Sim gets a nice eight hours of sleep before driving their convertible to the hospital for their shift as the chief of staff: The Sims 4 will soon be completely free to play.

Available for All

The Xbox One, PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S and Series X are all included in this promotion. If you’ve previously purchased the game, Electronic Arts offers a bonus for you. With neutral, natural tones and practical aestheticism, the Desert Luxe Kit promises to give your indoor and outdoor areas an air of a “modern oasis.”

A Bit of a Difference

It’s not like The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, which Electronic Arts offered as a free download when it announced that it will stop supporting it in 2014. That package included both the base game and each of its expansion packs. You will only receive the main game if you purchase The Sims 4 tomorrow; in order to use its features, you will need to spend money on its expansion packs such as Get to Work, Island Living, Cats & Dogs, Cottage Living, and so on.

Furthermore, this does not always portend the release of The Sims 5. Electronic Arts and Maxis are “more dedicated than ever to delivering new and meaningful experiences for gamers, and will continue to develop and release packs, Kits, and Sims Delivery Express drops for the foreseeable future,” according to the free to play announcement. It’s still a terrific time to be a Simmer with eight years’ worth of expansions and custom material to pick from.
