Sony Officially Announces a God of War Series

A live-action God of War TV adaptation was rumored to be coming to Prime Video back in March, and I think we can all agree that we need it in our life. The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, as well as The Wheel of Time executive showrunner Rafe Judkins, were said to be working on the project with Sony Pictures Television at the time, and PlayStation’s specialized TV and film team, PlayStation Productions, was said to be in charge of producing it. Now that Sony has confirmed the show is coming, it is official, as reported by PlayStation Universe.

Racking Them Up

Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, broke the news during a Q&A session at a business briefing. The series is absolutely coming to Amazon Prime as previously anticipated, though no other information has been provided as of yet. It’s exciting to know that this isn’t the only project in development; Netflix plans to create a series for Horizon Zero Dawn and, strangely enough, an adaptation of Gran Turismo.

More to Come

Let’s not forget that Twisted Metal and The Last of Us are both being adapted into TV shows and movies by Sony. The Last of Us has already been on theaters, but you get the idea. In addition to the fact that a cinematic adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima is in development, this year already saw the release of the Uncharted movie.

We can only hope that it won’t be too long before we see something of the Fallout TV series, which is also being worked on by Amazon Prime and is reportedly scheduled to begin production this summer. Talk about a stellar lineup or series and shows to come!
