Paper Girls from Amazon Gets Cancelled After Just One Season

Amazon Prime has terminated Paper Girls after one season. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, the new sci-fi series that made its Amazon Prime premiere back in July has reportedly already been cancelled, according to Deadline.

Something Unique

The program was created by Legendary TV and Amazon Studios. Legendary TV is apparently pitching the show in an effort to capitalize on the success of programs like Sex Lives of College Girls and Euphoria by “offering another show with three-dimensional young female characters at the center.”

What Its About

Based on Brian K. Vaughn’s 2015 comic book series, Paper Girls follows the tale of Tiff, Erin, Mac, and KJ, four adolescent girls who become embroiled in a conflict between rival groups of time travelers.

Despite the show’s promising start, Amazon Prime was unsatisfied. However, Paper Girls debuted at a problematic moment, competing with Amazon’s Rings of Power, a high-concept, high-budget Lord of the Rings show that has been the focus of a significant marketing campaign in recent weeks and months.
