After its opening weekend at the box office, One Piece Film: Red brought in over 2.3 billion yen, making it the second-biggest two-day debut of all time for a Japanese movie. Yesterday saw the Japanese debut of the fifteenth One Piece feature picture, and just two days later, the movie is already breaking box office records.

Huge Numbers

The opening weekend of One Piece Film: Red brought in over 2.3 billion yen ($17 million), making it the second-biggest two-day debut of any Japanese movie in the domestic box office. The movie outperforms Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which brought in more than 1.96 billion yen in its first two days and more than 2.6 billion yen over the course of its three-day opening weekend in December.

As Compared to

Given that One Piece Film: Red is not even based on a canon manga tale, as opposed to Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train, which now hold the record for the Biggest Film of All Time in Japan, One Piece Film: Red’s box office results are incredibly amazing.
