Martin Sheen has acknowledged that changing his name for a job is one of his greatest regrets. Sheen said to Closer Weekly that his father had opposed his entering the entertainment industry.

It’s Everywhere

Sheen said when asked if he regretted changing his name, “That’s one of my regrets. I never changed my name officially. It’s still Ramon Estévez on my birth certificate. It’s on my marriage license, my passport, driver’s license.”

Not Far from the Tree

Sheen revealed that his son Emilio turned up to a show he was doing once, originally assuming he’d come to visit him. But it turned out that the ambitious actor had landed a role in the same production.

Sheen claimed that while he didn’t object to any of his kids going into the business, he did persuade Emilio to preserve his last name. That way he could still keep the family bond stronger and closer as compared to his own experiences.
