According to a recent article from The Hollywood Reporter, the new DC Universe intends to hire Jason Momoa in a different role when Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is released.

Who is Jason Momoa?

American actor Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa was raised in Hawaii. He made his acting debut as Jason Ioane on the action drama series Baywatch: Hawaii, which aired on syndication from 1999 to 2001.

He then played the roles of Ronon Dex on the Syfy science fiction series Stargate Atlantis (2005–2009), Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones (2011–2012), Declan Harp on the Discovery Channel historical drama series Frontier (2016–2018), and Baba Voss on the Apple TV+ science (2019–2022). In the two most recent series, Momoa served as the protagonist.

Since 2016, Momoa has played Arthur Curry / Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), first making a cameo appearance in the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), then starring in Justice League (2017) and its 2021 director’s cut, appearing as the title character in Aquaman (2018) and its sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will be released in December 2023, and making a cameo appearance in the TV series Peacemaker (2022–present).

In the 2021 film adaptation of the science fiction book Dune, Momoa also as Duncan Idaho.

At the age of 19, Momoa chose to go on an audition for the television show Baywatch Hawaii while residing and working in Honolulu. He was subsequently cast as Jason Ioane (1999–2001).

In addition to his roles in Stargate: Atlantis (2005–2009) and Johnson Family Vacation (2004), Momoa played the role of Roman in four episodes of the comedy-drama television series The Game (2009). Arnold Schwarzenegger gained his fame as the titular character in Conan the Barbarian (2011), a remake of the 1982 film of the same name.

Jason Momoa has a new role?

The DCU, not the DCEU, is what that is. James Gunn and Peter Safran will lead the reimagined world; you may already be familiar with Gunn’s work, and Safran is the producer of several horror movies, including The Nun, The Conjuring series, The Suicide Squad, and Peacemaker. Quite a broad variety, one may say.

The Hollywood Reporter asserts that the Snyderverse will end and Wonder Woman 3 will not be released in the DCU’s future.

The execs want to retain Jason Momoa in the mix despite the fact that Man of Steel 2 and any other Aquaman movies met the same demise. His name is now being considered for the role of Lobo, which was formerly performed by Emmett J. Scanlan.

According to the source, the return of the extraterrestrial bounty hunter Lobo may represent the kind of direction that Gunn and Safran want to take the DC Universe. Even Stan Lee dubbed Lobo his favorite figure from the competing comic book universe.

Lobo was initially intended to be a spoof of the Punisher in Marvel Comics. Of course, nothing has been verified, and Henry Cavill, who just expressed his joy at returning, may find himself in a dilemma with the possibility that Man of Steel 2 may have been scrapped.
