Fans have been speculating for some time as to who would play James Bond after Daniel Craig turned over the keys to the Aston Martin, but Idris Elba has made up his mind.
Who is Idris Elba?
English actor Idrissa Akuna Elba OBE was born on September 6, 1972. He graduated from the National Youth Theatre in London and is most recognized for his performances as Nelson Mandela in the historical movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and Stringer Bell in the HBO series Luther (2010–2019). (2013). He was nominated four times each for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for Luther, winning the latter.
So is he the next 007?
Despite the fact that we are still no closer to learning who will be the next 007, the 50-year-old actor has long been considered the front-runner.
Since Craig ended portraying the role in 2021’s No Time to Die, fans have been speculating about who will take his place, to the point where the cycle has come full circle.
Just so you know, the Glass Onion star has no immediate plans to take up the part again.
And it appears that he is currently exclusively thinking about the new Luther movie The Fallen Sun.
I apologize to everyone who was counting on Idris Elba to be the next James Bond, but it’s obvious he doesn’t like the concept of drinking shaken martinis in the future.
He disqualified himself from portraying Bond when talking about the “extremely dark” Luther movie, hinting that he is just too committed to his present detective job.
We’ve been working on the television program for nearly ten years, so it only makes sense that we would want to bring it to the big screen. That’s why we’re here with the first movie, according to Elba.
“The character that starts with J and finishes with B is often mentioned, but I’m not going to be that man.
“I will portray John Luther. I am what I am.
Fans will just have to divert their focus till the producers decide to end their pain and choose as it looks he has finished having such discussions.
However, it doesn’t mean there isn’t something to be thrilled about, especially because Luther: The Fallen Sun will be released later this month on February 24 and will then be available on Netflix on March 10.
According to the official plot summary: “In Luther: The Fallen Sun, brilliant but disgraced investigator John Luther (Idris Elba) is imprisoned while a terrible serial murderer terrorizes London.
“Luther decides to get out of prison to accomplish the job by any means necessary since he is haunted by his inability to apprehend the cyber psychopath who is now taunting him.”
Additionally, the movie will take Detective John Luther outside of his typical London setting.
At least one area will have lots of snow, according to first-look photos that were posted last month.
Along with actors like Genius Cynthia Erivo and Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis, Elba will be a part of the film.
