Giant Stingray Claimed to Be World’s Largest Freshwater Fish to Be Discovered

Karl Telintelo

A Cambodian fisherman may have caught the world’s largest freshwater fish after catching a 661-pound gigantic stingray. At the Mekong River, a 42-year-old fisherman named Moul Thun captured the absolute unit of a big stingray, according to VT.

As Full As It Gets

He immediately called for a team of experts from the Wonders of Mekong research project, who arrived to weigh and assess the enormous fish. Boramy, which means “full moon” in the Khemer language, has been the nickname given to the stingray.

Looking Good

Boramy was found to be a healthy female huge stingray who will likely survive her capture and return to the water to do whatever giant stingrays do.
