Margot Robbie has, at last, discussed her feelings regarding Lady Gaga portraying Harley Quinn in Joker 2.

The new Joker with Gaga

In the next Joker: Folie à Deux movie, Gaga will take on the crazy persona of Quinn; the singer and actor first announced her casting in the 2024 movie back in August.

In regards to handing the torch to Gaga, Robbie has kept mum. before now.

Josh Horowitz of MTV News sat down with Robbie, Rami Malek, and John David Washington to discuss their newest movie, Amsterdam.

However, the topic quickly shifted to the rumours that everyone is interested in hearing: what does she think of Gaga playing Quinn?

The Australian actor told MTV, “I’m very delighted because I’ve always said all I want for Harley Quinn to be one of those roles, the way like Macbeth or Batman always gets transferred from great actor to great actor.

“It’s such a privilege to have established a base that is secure enough for Harley to now be one of those roles that other actors get to try out for”

Robbie continued to praise Gaga and expressed her admiration for her as Quinn.

She remarked, “I hope she’ll do something amazing with it.

Robbie previously admitted to EW that she wants a break from portraying Quinn, so it came as no surprise when she wasn’t chosen to play the villainous queen pin.

“I was kind of like, oof, I need a break from Harley because she’s exhausting,” Robbie said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It was kind of back-to-back filming Birds… and filming [Suicide Squad].”

Although Gaga hasn’t yet announced that she will play the psychotic Quinn, it’s safe to assume that she will because Harley Quinn is the only love interest the Joker has in the DC Comics.

According to the comics, Quinn and the Joker meet at Arkham Asylum, where Harley serves as the criminal’s therapist.

She quickly grows enamoured with the prisoner and follows him on his search for chaos and crazy.

We last saw Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) inside Arkham State Hospital at the conclusion of Joker, just before he makes his daring escape.

According to The Wrap, Arkham Asylum will serve as the setting for the majority of Joker: Folie à Deux, so we might see how these two solidify their bond.

The French phrase “folie à deux” denotes “the shared craziness of two.”

The movie is scheduled for release on October 4, 2024.

We’re excited to see Gaga on the big screen too!
