Cyberpunk 2077 to Have Idris Elba Join Its Cast

The Game Awards gave us many sneak glimpses at upcoming releases, including a fresh look at the next DLC expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty. The DLC will transport players to a new area of Night City and present an adventure that has been dubbed a “spy-thriller.” Players may prepare to link up with another well-known face as well as Keanu Reeves reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand in the DLC, since it has been reported that legendary actor Idris Elba will appear in it.

Big Names for a Big Game

IGN has revealed that Elba will portray Solomon Reed, a seasoned New United States of America agent, in a new role that comes with the Cyberpunk 2077 update. He’s “apparently the only person players can trust to help them fulfil an impossible mission of espionage and survival,” CD Projekt Red has teased. Phantom Liberty has a strong cast, despite the fact that much of the plot and premise are still unknown. Ash, a DJ for the virtual community radio station 89.7 Growl FM, will be voiced by Twitch streamer Sasha Grey, it was previously announced. That’s a lot of firepower from the cast alone since the Cyberpunk 2077 release date.

A Huge Role

Since then, developer CD Projekt Red has revealed that Idris Elba will be portraying a role as Solomon Reed, a seasoned New United States of America agent who the studio has hinted is “apparently the only person players can trust to help them fulfill an impossible mission of espionage and survival.” CD Projekt Red recently revealed Phantom Liberty will be paid DLC when it’s released in 2023, but the studio has not yet revealed a price or specific release date for the update.

It’s Elba’s largest part in a video game to date. Prior to that, he appeared in NBA 2K20 as Coach Ernie Ames, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and LEGO Marvel Avengers. He appears to be playing the lead in this situation. It’s odd to see Cyberpunk 2077 actively advertising itself, but it brings to a close a period of time during which the public’s perception of the formerly contentious role-playing game has evolved. Time will tell if this coming DLC would be a great point in the next Cyberpunk 2077 review.
