The Pokémon Company is suing six companies engaged in creating Pocket Monster Reissue for damages totaling $72.5 million, according to a report by the South China Morning Post.

Since 2015, the app has operated without authorization from the Pokémon Company. Zhongnan Heavy Industries, one of the developers, reported a 24.5% rise in sales in 2021. Pocket Monster Reissue generated $43 million in sales just one year after its release. According to Polygon, the app’s promotional graphics appear to incorporate Pikachu and Ash Ketchum from the Pokémon series as assets and characters.
Additionally, the Pokémon Company requests to stop creating and selling the games. Additionally, it requests an apology from the businesses on Chinese social media sites.
