After talks, Ukraine and Russia Reach  “Joint Understanding” For Civilian Evacuations.

The two countries are said to have reached a ‘joint understanding’ following a second round of peace talks in Belarus earlier today. Russia has promised to offer humanitarian corridors to aid in the safe evacuation of fleeing residents, according to Ukraine.

A Better Step

While the agreement mentioned the option of a temporary ceasefire, Ukraine hoped for a resolution that included a full ceasefire as well as Russian troop withdrawal. Both Russia and Ukraine, however, consider the temporary ceasefire in specific areas to allow for the safe passage of civilians as one good point that could lead to many.

Going Smoothly

Russian negotiators have allegedly confirmed their country’s support for the humanitarian corridors, as well as deeming the second round of negotiations a success.
